When we moved to Nebraska we realized the business would need to start over from scratch. That our kids might struggle to make friends. That we might struggle to make friends. But because of this wonderful family our worries washed away.
The Ernst family has truly become great friends, and it was my pleasure this year to give them the gift of a Family Portrait session. We headed out to Prairie Lake State Recreation area for some amazing sunset photos.

When we moved here to Hastings, my husband and I worried so much that our kids would struggle to make friends. That they would be cast as outsiders. We new moving would be hard on them, but to leave their friends and then struggle to make new ones....well that scared us.
However, quite the opposite seemed to happen. They made amazing new friends in the first week of starting school here. We were so thrilled! We had no words to offer our great thanks to these families of the kiddos that befriended our little ones so quickly and easily. But we did have the gift of photos.
So, as our thank you to them for being so amazing, we offered three fantastic families a Free Family portrait session to repay them for their kindness. This beautiful family was one of them.
The amazing Tracy girls have taken us in, befriended us, and we are eternally grateful for that. They are always so cheerful. They giggle, laugh, and have the best sense of humor. It was truly an honor to photograph them on this fantastic October day.

I love to travel around the country photographing my fantastic clients. I especially love to travel all over this great state of Nebraska for sessions. But it isn't often I actually get to photograph my own extended family. So when my mom said she wanted new photos of her and dad done for their holiday cards this year, I jumped at the opportunity!
We planned their session to be held at their home and surrounding area. She said "I want the photos to truly represent us." and what better place to have them taken than in your home town.
My parents have always been cuddly. Holding hands, giving little kisses, big bear hugs....and they love to laugh. Yet when we started the session they weren't giving me true smiles and seemed a little stiff in the poses. So we walked around a bit...and as they talked and we laughed....they became very comfortable in front of the camera. Allowing me the opportunity to capture images of my parents that truly show their love for each other.
Here are just a few of my favorites from their amazing session. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

As you can probably tell from my website and blog....I'm a baby photographer. Anything baby related, I'm game! But it wasn't always that way. I actually started my business doing Weddings, Engagements, and Senior portraits. However, it's been AWHILE since I was hired to photograph any of the above.
In July, the lovely Miss Deanna and her mom contacted me about possibly doing Senior photos. I was very excited! A little nervous, as it had been several years since I had done a fun Senior Session, but excited nonetheless.
We made a plan for the end of August to do 2 days worth of photos....one with a friends horse and the next day with everything else. However, day one didn't quite go as planned and the friends horse didn't seem to want photos taken. Within a few minutes of arriving she had the horse ready, got on its back, and it promptly bucked her off, stomped around and trampled her. Not a single photos taken and I was terrified that she had been seriously injured.
Luckily, she walked away with a cracked tooth and a few scrapes and bruises. Her make-up ruined from tears, clothes torn, and covered in dirt. It was definitely the end of the photo session, and not what any of us had planned. So we rescheduled for October to give her some time to heal.
When October rolled around we had one day, two locations, and several changes of clothes to get done....all before she had to be at the Homecoming dance that evening. Phew! It was definitely a whirlwind. But the day went perfectly....a better trained horse was used....and the photos came out amazing.

I love this little man for so many reasons. Now, I haven't had the opportunity to photograph him as much as I would have liked, but he is so special to me anyway. You see his beautiful momma and I were pregnant together. Our babies are just 7 months apart in age, and that creates a bond. Miss Rebecca is a wonderful friend, and her little man is A.Dor.Able!
Sir Xander has just turned 6. He is so full of personality. Silly smiles, striking poses, and giggling himself silly. It was so much fun!
But I had to get Miss Rebecca in on this. She is the mom that is always behind the camera, snapping photos of her family. So she needed some photos of her and her little man. Every mom needs these photos. Every mom needs to have photos of them laughing and giving smoochies to their kiddos. Your kids need these photos. These images show them just how much you loved them in that moment and always. So special!

This beautiful family is simply amazing. They are so kind, so friendly, and always have the most wonderful smiles on their faces. Even the kiddos! They listen to poses suggestions so well, and every year their photos turn out gorgeous.
With our move to Nebraska, it's been harder to coordinate consultations with sessions I already had lined up in Las Vegas. However, this momma is on the ball with ideas, and I didn't have to worry to much about anything.
This session was taken out at the lovely Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs in North Las Vegas, and if you haven't ever been there...I highly suggest you go! It's like another world from the average Nevada landscape, and makes for an amazing backdrop.
